About the Course

Tailored to the unique needs and interests of your student, this course is designed to kindle wonder for the arts and cultivate an inner drive for precise, artistic practice (necessary to master any instrument joyfully). This foundational exploration course is best for both brand-new music students and any budding musicians who feel reluctant to practice. We train focus and attention, skillful habit-formation, and self-mastery a little at a time all while inviting curiosity and creative flourishing.

Each of the arts nurtures our minds and hearts in unique ways that are both most captivating and most nurturing when love for them is developed together. Therefore, each lesson incorporates fine art, stories, and poetry into the musical experience to delight and refine each student's appetite for a weekly "arts banquet." Parents and students are encouraged to seek after these daily joys themselves. Their creative expression as amateur artists naturally follows and flows as part of their exploration, play, and intentional work.

This method provides family-focused, teacher-supported development of musicianship and encourages a strong family arts culture. We learn to love the things with which we are familiar. This course will emphasize songs for play, lullabies, worship, classical music and art-song familiarity.
